Fruit Leathers | Fragrance Posse

Posse!… it’s January within the Midwest.  Leather-based Climate, proper?  Welll..Not So Quick.  Right here’s the factor: within the deep depths of Winter the ‘typical’ leathers, these heavy hitters just like the Cuir de Russies (alladem) Mme. Laurent’s Treizieme Heures (yikes!!!) and the brutal, birch tar bases are somewhat…dare I say..brittle(?) at the least on me.  These large’uns do higher within the blinding warmth of Summer season – once more on me.  Ymmv.

What actually works for me within the Proper Now, uplifting whereas cosseting me in delicate, weighted cashmere, are the hotter, fruitier leathers.  Main that pack is Uncle Serge’s beautiful Daim Blond, which brings up my lunch in Summer season (go determine) however I put on in nice swathes ( a LOT of swath!!!) this time of yr.  The truth is, I used to be carrying it while studying Tom’s fabulously humorous publish on DB and Miel!  I’m carrying it once more this morning, as I look out onto sopping-wet snow falling from the skies like any person’s paying it to take action.  Grrrrr!   However it’s Sunday, I’ve my hair in a masks and warmth cap (oh, Sunday, Candy Sunday! when no person rings your doorbell).. my toes are finished and my larder is full (it’s SNOWING!!! and I solely have SIX POUNDS! of espresso!  Oh, the humanity!)… and I’m soaked to the gills in Daim Blond.  A lesser, saner individual can be choking in it – however I’m significantly insane and no person’s round so (insert Uncle Serge-level DNGAF right here).

Cuir de Lancome is one other one good for such a climate.  Created by the vaunted Calice Becker (and an unknown-to-me perfumer, Pauline Zanoni), the notes are (per Fragrantica) mandarin orange, saffron and bergamot; center notes are patchouli, hawthorn, jasmine and ylang-ylang; base notes are orris root, birch and styrax.  These notes mix to create a delicate, juicy-light leather-based.  Smells like while you take the delicate leather-based jacket of a really enticing man (to hold it up, clearly)…and catch a fast whiff of fresh, male pores and skin scented with some heat citrus… okay possibly that’s simply me.  However that’s what it smells like, whereas nonetheless smelling very female.  Huh.  Irrespective of how bizarre that sounds, I likes it!  I’d spray CdL on a person I discovered enticing however I don’t need to find yourself at the back of a SWAT van.  Or out of a job as a result of I can’t get away from bed.  Okay, maaaaybe that final one.  Life is Unsure.  Stay it!

Yet another – and one I dare not spritz on a person I need (except we’ve a LOT of time.  Like days.).  Killian Hennessey’s Darkish Lord. Created by my beloved Alberto Morillas, who is aware of a factor or two about subtle fruit notes.  cinnamon wrote about this, piquing my curiosity.  So.  Bought a sample from Surrender to Chance….HOLY KAPOW!!!  “Darkish Lord “Ex Tenebris Lux’ is a gentleman of the evening. Meet him in probably the most stunning of circumstances and his thriller slowly unfolds: A head-twisting mixture of shadows and light-weight, it seduces in seconds with its elegant, long-lasting accords of leather-based and powerful vetiver, its jasmine drenched in rum, and a dandyish entrance of bergamot and pepper.”

okay – the Killian copy is a bit excessive – however …properly, probably not.  I’d meet that gentleman any damb evening…and take my possibilities.  It’s fruity – however a darkish alcohol-soaked fruit (a signature Hennessy word and one which M. Morillas wields, deftly, like a rapier) .  I’m positive the vetiver is there (it could have to be, to anchor this beautiful factor) but it surely’s subtly, completely blended, which makes me blissful, as vetiver isn’t my favourite word.  I get smoked cherries and a contact of smoke-other (the vetiver, I’m pondering).  You’ve ran into this man on a darkish road, on a chilly evening.  An enormous man. Elegant..with a touch of hazard about him.  Silken, ebony hair. He’s clad in a midnight gray cashmere greatcoat, with a leather-based vest beneath, atop a heavy linen shirt.  The warmth coming via the leather-based brings with it that scent of smoked cherries (a pipe? simply out of a smoking membership? his pure scent?  who is aware of)… he reaches out to regular you and the warmth of his grip is sufficient to sear your soul.  A fast twist of terror. Then a sense of full security.  Then that trace of hazard. A roaring of lust.

After which he’s gone.

Not less than that’s what I get once I put this on.  Ymmv.  However lordt JAYZUS!  I hope not.  Except what you get is even higher!  Then I’ll have what you’re having.  For a extra erudite take, learn Mark Behnke’s stunning publish here.  I’m gonna go take a chilly bathe.

These are 3 of my favourite fruity leathers.  Do you have got a favourite (or 3?) When do you put on them?
